Port Angeles, WA – The beautiful George Washington Inn was a perfect setting for the annual Lincoln Day Luncheon, held on July 24th 2021, overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Approximately 145 people attended the event, with the theme, “Proud to be an American.” The event was sponsored by the Clallam County Republican Party, Republican Women of Clallam County and the Young Republicans.

Sue Forde, chair of the Party, kicked off the event with a welcome to the guests and thanked Dan Abbott and his wife Janet, owners of the popular bed and breakfast inn, for allowing the event to take place on their beautiful property, along with the volunteers, and a welcome to the elected officials, candidates and guest speakers.

“We are in a battle for our Constitutional Republic and the freedom that has been taken for granted. Your vote is very important,” said Forde who challenged the attendees to become more involved.

Dick Pilling, emcee and former chair of the party, led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Pastor Rich Hay who led the invocation. Susan Rodman sang, “Proud to be an American.”  She invited military veterans to stand and be recognized and thanked them for their service. She also led in “God Bless America” later in the program.

After a generously prepared lunch by Coyote Grill and Pub, auctioneer Chuck Beck held a live auction. There was also a silent auction prepared before the event, where folks could choose their items.

Speakers Dr. Elizabeth Kreiselmaier, Jim Walsh, and Keynote speaker Glenn Morgan.

Gig Harbor resident Dr. Elizabeth Kreiselmaier is running again for the U.S. Senate in the 6th Congressional District.  Her platform advocates strong families, strong communities, and a strong country. The candidate’s desire is to “pull American back from the brink of Socialism”. She is the only Republican in this district running for the position, against the longtime incumbent, Derek Kilmer (D).

State Representative Jim Walsh, who represents the 19th district, challenged the crowd.  “We need broad discretionary power at the local level”, he announced. He stated that we do not need capital gains income tax, no long term ponzi, and we need to stand on the Washington Constitution.  Also no underfunding of law enforcement. “Crime is wrong”, affirmed Walsh.   He believes Washington State has had the worst executive policies such as: green energy bills, low carbon fuel standard, and cap and trade.   He encouraged people to vote and bring change to more common sense and truly representation at all levels of government.

The keynote speaker was Glenn Morgan, author and activist. Glen is currently the Executive Director for the Citizens Alliance for Property Rights. Glen Morgan was the Grassroots Director and the Property Rights Director at the Freedom Foundation 2011-2015. He enjoys creating videos documenting Big Government’s abuses of citizens – particularly on property rights issues.  Glen founded We the Governed in 2016.

Morgan encouraged the crowd to confront the other side and expose them for who they really are.  “Others will join you,” he added.  The advocate for property rights said, “I’m not ready to give up this beautiful state,” as he stressed the importance of activism as opposed to complacency.  He later stated, “there is no middle ground.”

“We have an opportunity to turn Olympia and the State”, said Morgan. He reminded the crowd of our State Constitution and Bill of Rights. Washington State Constitution Article 1, Section 1,  “All political power is inherent in the people, and government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed and are established to protect and maintain individual rights.”
