Dear Editor:

The intemperate outburst by City Council member Brandon Janisse following the Executive Session held Monday January 11th did not enhance his reputation. Although Brandon is clearly a bureaucratic acolyte of [City] Manager [Charlie] Bush, his statements were insults toward his fellow Council members. Furthermore, confidential Executive Sessions are sanctioned by the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) for specific valid reasons, generally to encourage candid discussion of legal or personnel issues.

And speaking of Manager Bush, did he authorize City Attorney Nelson-Gross to hire the expensive Seattle law firm Keating Bucklin & McCormack to do her work in opposing the SOS [Save Our Sequim] matter now in Port Angeles Superior Court? She earns about $140,000 annually and Bush $160,000 plus benefits; the City of Sequim deserves more than it is receiving from each position. Particularly when our fine City Council members devote their precious time for just a few hundred dollars per month.

Sincerely,

Bob Bilow, Sequim WA
